Student Services Checklist

Our Student Services Office, comprised of Financial Aid, Billing and the Registrar’s Office, has a number of forms for you to complete before you enroll and begin classes.

Preregistration

  • If you plan on applying for financial aid, please file your FAFSA application on www.studentloans.gov.  For private loans, be sure to apply through www.elmselect.com.  If you already filed your FAFSA and you haven’t received an award letter yet, please be sure to contact the Financial Aid Office (FinancialAid@williamjames.edu).
  • Return your award letter with your loan request, and complete the two steps on page two of your award letter.
  • Please refer to the Tuition and Fees Section of the website for information on tuition payment due dates, payment plans, refunds, and policies.
  • Please complete the Financial Responsibility Agreement, click HERE to download.
  • If not done yet, you must request an official transcript to be sent from your institution showing degree conferred.

Military Community

  • If you plan on using educational benefits through the Veteran’s Administration go HERE. Please make sure you forward your Certificate of Eligibility to debra_boyce@williamjames.edu.
  • If you are a Yellow Ribbon recipient, please fill out the Yellow Ribbon application which you can download by click HERE. If you would like more information, please contact Ms. Debra Boyce, debra_boyce@williamjames.edu

Health Insurance

  • Student health insurance is required in the state of Massachusetts.  The plan year runs from August – August.  You have the option to choose the school’s offered insurance plan or provide waiver information to the school.  Please look for upcoming information from debra_boyce@williamjames.eduregarding this year’s plan.
Clinical Psychology PsyD Checklist

This checklist was developed to assist entering students with their transition to graduate study. Please read it over carefully, and be sure to complete all the items as noted.

  • Field Education: Once your enrollment deposit has been received, you will be contacted by the Department of Field Education to begin your practicum site search. If you haven’t, please contact Dr. Angela Taveira-Dick (angela_tdick@williamjames.edu). Doing so sooner rather than later assures you the most options and allows you to register for classes sooner. NOTE: Failure to begin by June 1, 2020 and actively engage in the site search process until a site is secured may result in a deferral to the following year (Fall 2021).
  • Transfer of Credit: If you have taken graduate-level courses within the last five years that meet all criteria specified in the transfer of credit policy in the student handbook, please submit appropriate syllabi to Eileen O’Donnell (Eileen_odonnell@williamjames.edu) by May 19, 2020. (Applicants for advanced standing must submit syllabi by March 13, 2020).
  • Registration: AFTER YOU KNOW YOUR FIELD SITE SCHEDULE, please contact Eileen O’Donnell at Eileen_Odonnell@williamjames.edu and she will register you for classes. It is in your best interest to be in touch with Ms. O’Donnell as soon as possible.
  • Academic Advisor: Advisors are assigned over the summer and you will be notified as soon as your assignment is made. Once you receive notification, please make contact with your advisor prior to the start of the semester and arrange for an in person meeting no later than the end of the first week of classes.
  • Ed Tech Orientation: You will receive an email about this online tutorial that introduces the student to the College’s technologies. You are required to complete this online orientation before attending the in-person orientation.
  • Textbook list: Students may order textbooks online from MBS Direct, William James College’s official textbook store. A link to the bookstore is located on the Library’s website.
  • Mandatory Orientation Week: This year orientation starts on Monday, August 17th until Friday, August 21st. The Clinical Psychology Department mandatory days are Monday, August 17th and Tuesday, August 18th, and the College-wide writing orientation is on Friday, August 21st.  You are required to attend these 3 days. Advanced Standing students are required to attend additional workshops on Wednesday, August 19th and Thursday, August 20th. There are a number of other optional activities sponsored by the Dean of Students Office during the week. There may be additional orientation requirements and you will be notified of such.
  • Save the Date: A mandatory workshop is planned for September 2020, exact Saturday TBD.
  • Start of Classes: Classes start the week of Monday, August 24th, 2020.
Counseling MA Checklist

MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling:

  • You should receive an email from the Information Technology (IT) Department with instructions on how to set up your email and access to all WJC systems. It is important that you set up your email and check it on a daily basis. You should use your WJC email to communicate with the college.
  • Registration: You will receive an email from the Department Coordinator, Ms. Ana Bueso, with information on how to sign up for a registration appointment. Registration will take place in June and it is done by appointment with the Department Chair, Dr. Nilda Laboy.
  • Academic Advisor: You will receive an email from the Department Chair, Dr. Nilda Laboy, with the name of your assigned advisor, who you will meet during orientation.
  • Ed Tech Orientation: You will receive an email about this online tutorial that introduces the student to the College’s technologies. You are required to complete this online orientation before attending the in-person orientation.
  • Textbook list: You will receive the textbook list from the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department. Students may order textbooks online from MBS Direct, William James College’s official textbook store. A link to the bookstore is located on the  Library’s website.
  • Orientation: The mandatory 3-day Fall 2020 orientation will take place from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on August 19 and 20, and from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on August 21. You are required to attend all 3 days of orientation. You will meet your Academic Advisor during Orientation. 
  • Start of Classes: Classes start on Monday, August 24, 2020. Make sure you come in early to find your way!
Leadership Psychology PsyD Checklist
  • You should receive an email from the Information Technology (IT) Department with instructions on how to set up your email and access to all WJC systems. It is important that you set up your email and check it on a daily basis. You should use your WJC email to communicate with the college and with your potential practicum site.
  • You should receive a welcome email from OLP Department Chair and Director of the Leadership Psychology PsyD program, Dr. Kathryn Stanley.  This email provides many details such as: reading & preparation materials, upcoming events & what to expect in your first few weeks as a graduate student
  • Registration: All students will be registered for first semester courses by the OLP Department.
  • Ed Tech Orientation: You will receive access to this online tutorial that introduces the student to the College’s technologies in Canvas, the Learning Management System used at WJC. You are required to complete this online orientation before attending the program orientation.
  • Textbook list: You will receive the textbook list from the OLP Department by the middle of December.  Students may order textbooks online from MBS Direct, William James College’s official textbook store.  A link to the bookstore is located on the Library’s website. A majority of required books will be found on Amazon.com.
  • Orientation Week: Spring 2021 orientation starts on Wednesday, January 6 and ends Thursday January 7, 2021.  You are required to attend the full orientation on both January 6 & 7, 2021
  • Start of Classes: Classes start on Monday, January 11, 2021. Make sure to login to Canvas and surf your courses prior to the first day of classes.
  • Join our OLP Virtual Coffee Hour on an upcoming date to meet our faculty from the Organizational and Leadership Psychology Department. This is an informal virtual event and an opportunity to connect with faculty and your future classmates.   • Textbook list: You will receive the textbook list from the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department. Students may order textbooks online from MBS Direct, William James College’s official textbook store. A link to the bookstore is located on the Library’s website.
  • Academic Advisor: You will receive an email from the Department Chair, Dr. Nilda Laboy, with the name of your assigned advisor, who will contact you the first week of classes.

  • Orientation: The Fall 2020 program orientation will take place online in an asynchronous manner and will open on Monday, August 17, 2020. You are required complete your program orientation prior to start classes. 
  • Start of Classes: Classes start on Monday, August 24, 2020.
Executive Coaching  Graduate Certificate Checklist
  • You should receive an email from the Information Technology (IT) Department with instructions on how to set up your email and access to all WJC systems. It is important that you set up your email and check it on a daily basis. You should use your WJC email to communicate with the college and with your potential practicum site.
  • You should receive a welcome email from GCEC Program Director, Suzanne Boulos. This email provides many details such as: reading & preparation materials, upcoming events & what to expect in your first few weeks as a graduate student.
  • Registration: GCEC students are registered by the registrar
  • Ed Tech Orientation: You will receive an email about this online tutorial that introduces the student to the College’s technologies. You are required to complete this online orientation before attending the in-person orientation.
  • Orientation Day: Fall Orientation will be on Friday, August 21, 2020 (9:00 am - 4:00 pm)
  • Start of Classes: Classes start on-line on Sunday, August 23, 2020. Make sure to login to Canvas and surf your courses prior to the first day of classes.
  • First Weekend in Residence: Will be posted shortly.
School Psychology MA-CAGS Checklist
  • Orientation Week: Fall 2020 orientation starts on Monday, August 17th and ends on Friday, August 21st. Students admitted to the School Psychology MA/CAGS Program are required to attend the Program’s orientation on Wednesday, August 19th and Thursday, August 20th, as well as the College-wide writing orientation on Friday, August 21st. The Dean of Students Office also sponsors late afternoon social activities during the week, which all students are welcome to attend.
  • Student Technology Orientation: You will receive an email about this online tutorial that introduces the student to the College’s technologies. You are required to complete this online orientation before attending the in-person orientation.
  • Ed Tech Orientation: You will receive an email about this online tutorial that introduces the student to the College’s technologies. You are required to complete this online orientation before attending the in-person orientation.
  • Field Education: You will receive information about your field placement from the School Psychology MA/CAGS Program during the late spring/early summer. Please contact Dr. Elana Wolkoff, Associate Director of Field Education, if you have any questions about field education.
  • Registration: Students entering the MA/CAGS Program are automatically registered for their fall semester courses. After the first semester, students will register for their own courses. Course schedules will be sent out by the School Psychology Program.
  • Academic Advisor: You will be assigned an advisor during orientation. Please contact the School Psychology Department Interim Chair, Dr. Jason Kaplan or Interim MA/CAGS Program Director, Dr. Robyn Bratica if you have questions before then.
  • Textbook list: Students may order textbooks online from MBS Direct, William James College’s official textbook store. A link to the bookstore is located on the Library’s website.
Applied Behavior Analysis MA Checklist
  • Orientation Week:  Fall 2020 orientation starts on Monday, August 17th and ends on Friday, August 21st. Students admitted to the Master of Arts in ABA Program are required to attend the Program’s orientation on Wednesday, August 19th and the College-wide writing orientation on Friday, August 21st. The Dean of Students Office also sponsors late afternoon social activities during the week, which all students are welcome to attend.
  • Student Technology Orientation: You will receive an email about this online tutorial that introduces the student to the College’s technologies. You are required to complete this online orientation before attending the in-person orientation.
  • Ed Tech Orientation: You will receive an email about this online tutorial that introduces the student to the College’s technologies. You are required to complete this online orientation before attending the in-person orientation.
  • Field Education: You will receive information about your field placement from the ABA Program prior to the beginning of the Fall semester. Please contact Dr. Ronald Lee, Director, Applied Behavior Analysis, if you have any questions about field education.
  • Registration:Students entering the MA in ABA must register each semester for their courses. Expected courses will be sent out by the by ABA Program (your Academic Advisor or the Program Director).
    Academic Advisor: You will be assigned an advisor during orientation. Please contact the ABA Program Director, Dr. Ronald Lee, if you have questions before then.
