Education Delivery Model and Individualized Schedule

Students receive individualized attention when building their schedule to attend to their personal needs and other responsibilities.

We offer some courses in a blended format, which may allow you to have more flexibility in your personal schedule. Courses offered in a blended format are determined by the instructor availability and number of students enrolled in the course section.

Traditional courses are offered from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm, and students usually take courses in a cohort of either Monday and Tuesday, or Thursday and Friday, depending on their area of emphasis.

Students may choose to do the program in 2 years (5 semesters including a summer session), or 3 years (with or without a summer session). You will have to complete a practicum (2 days per week) and an internship (3 days per week) during the program.

William James College's MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program falls under the Traditional course delivery model, with many courses available under a Blended format.

  • Traditional means that the course meets face-to-face and on campus on a weekly basis, although instructors may occasionally use web-based technology to supplement an on-campus meeting if necessary.
  • Blended courses incorporate both online and on-campus study. They include 7 weekly online modules with lectures and discussion forums, an on-campus time that can be on a full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) or one full day on two separate weekends.

None of the courses in this program are fully online.

In addition, each course uses William James College's learning management system (Canvas) where students can remotely access their course syllabus, readings, documents, supplemental material, instructor comments and calendar.

Due to the on-campus and field training requirements of this program, all students must live within commuting distance to William James College.
